Our Privacy Pledge

We understand and respect that you are concerned about your privacy. Connecting Neighbours is committed to respecting your privacy whenever you use any of our websites. We have established this Privacy Pledge to exemplify our commitment to protecting your personal information. We encourage you to review this Pledge and our Privacy Policy Principals so that you may understand how we protect your right to privacy.

This Pledge may be updated from time to time.

1. Collection of Information

Connecting Neighbours collects personal information when you:

- When you visit a neighbourhood site.

- Submit information to a neighbourhood site,

- Subscribe to the neighbourhood newsletter,

- Make a request to contact a sponsor for a neighbourhood: and/or,

- Create an account through website sponsorship.

In this context, when we collect your email address, it is for purposes such as sending confirmation emails, authenticating user accounts, providing subscription email services, assuring quality control and user satisfaction, as well as providing you with updates and notices pertaining to the services provided by Connecting Neighbours. Our web logs collect standard web log entries for each page served, including your IP address, page URL, and timestamp. Web logs help us to diagnose problems with our server, to administer the sites, and to otherwise provide our service to you.

2. Data We Store

All submissions are stored in our database, even after 'deletion,' and may be archived elsewhere. Our web logs and other records are stored as long as it is required for business proceedings or as required by federal and provincial laws.

Newsletter subscribers can unsubscribe to the newsletter, thereby removing their email address from the newsletter subscription list, by accessing the link at the bottom of each monthly newsletter. All registered resident profiles related to the newsletter are stored in our database, even after 'deletion,' and may be archived elsewhere.

Although we make good faith efforts to store the information in a secure operating environment that is not available to the public, we cannot guarantee 100% complete security.

3. Privacy Protection

Connecting Neighbours will not sell or otherwise transfer your contact information to third parties without your permission. We do not run banner ads, pop ups, pop unders, or any other kind of commercial ads. We do not engage in cross-marketing or link-referral programs with other sites. We do not send you unsolicited communications for marketing purposes. We do not knowingly collect any information from persons under the age of 13 without parental consent. If we learn that a posting is by a person under the age of 13, we will remove that posting.

When you make a submission to your neighbourhood site, subscribe to the neighbourhood newsletter or submit information to a neighbourhood site, you provide Connecting Neighbours and the sponsor of the site the permission to contact you about the specific submission or interaction.

Connecting Neighbours, or people who post on the neighbourhood sites, may provide links to third party websites, which may have different privacy practices. These links may be to foreign sites that are not registered as a Canadian company and therefore may not be subject to privacy policies and standards. We are not responsible for, nor do we have any control over the privacy policies of third party websites and we encourage all users to read the privacy policies of each and every website visited.

4. Use of Private Information

On occasion, Connecting Neighbours may need to communicate with you about changes to the neighbourhood site, neighbourhood newsletter, or any other service provided by Connecting Neighbours. We do not include third-party marketing information in these communications.

Connecting Neighbours may disclose information about its users if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such disclosure is reasonably necessary to respond to subpoenas, court orders, or other legal process. Connecting Neighbours may also disclose information about its users to law enforcement officers or others, in the good faith belief that such disclosure is reasonably necessary to:

- Enforce our Terms of Use,

- Respond to claims that any posting or other content violates the rights of third parties; and/or,

- Protect the rights, property, or personal safety of Connecting Neighbours, its users or the general public.

From time to time, Connecting Neighbours may disclose aggregate user data to advertisers or other third parties.
